7/28 10:00より、OFW版MGO2Rサーバーが公開、これで普通のPS3さえあれば誰でもMGO2を再びプレイできるようになりました。有志の努力にひたすら感謝。
今までCFWでプレイしていた人は無理にOFWでプレイする必要はなく、今までと変わりません。これから先、CFWだけの特別仕様が公開される可能性はあります。(過去にも内部没データを使って特殊な無線ボイスを使えるようにしたりしていました過去記事参照)
CFW版とOFWでは同じサーバでプレイできますのでゲーム自体に違いはありませんが、導入やプレイ環境に若干違いが有ります。

OFW版で使用するゲームディスクがMGS4の場合、MGOを開始するまでに若干の時間と操作が増えます。(MGS4メニューからMGO起動するので)
このディスクは市場に中古が溢れていますので問題なく手に入るのがメリットです。但し使用するディスクは最初に発売されたものに限り、BEST版では出来ません。
日本国内でのみ販売されたMGO専用ディスクで起動する場合、すぐにMGOが開始されるので起動が早いです。
但しこのディスクは市場に出ている本数が非常に少ないので手に入れるには上のMGS4よりも若干お高い支払いが必要になっています。
CFW版はMGO専用ディスクと同じでいきなりMGOが起動します。こちらもプレイまでの時間は早いです。
ディスクは不要。しかも内蔵HDDをSSDに換装すると、サクサク軽快な起動が実現されますので毎日廃人プレイする方にオススメです。
開設直後、プレイヤー人数は5～600人と盛況です。
戦線復帰に必要なもの
- PS3本体(できるだけ発売が後のほうが良い・CECH4000系推奨)
- コントローラ
- 電源ケーブル
- モニタ接続ケーブル(HDMI or アナログコンポジットケーブル)
- LANケーブル(有線でネット接続する場合)
- データ保存用USBメモリ(2GB以上)
- MGO2をプレイ可能なゲームディスク(ベスト盤ではないMGS4もしくはMGO)
